Ted Leo (vocals/guitar)
Dave Lerner (bass)
Chris Wilson (drums)
special guest Ida Pearle
Do you do a lot of out door shows?
We do a few every summer -obviously it has to be in the summer I guess.
How do you like today’s show?
It was great! Yea, I’m glad we did it.
Were you worried about the chance of rain?
I was a little bit worried, I thought it might rain. But we’re
kind of used to these nature disasters happening to us at this point so
I was like if it happens, it happens, I am not going to worry…
You are on tour now?
Well we all live here also so we get to do a lot of local shows.
We played in Pennsylvania last night so it’s close enough to come
home last night, wake up in our own bed this morning.
You guys are from Brooklyn?
Basically from Brooklyn, I live right over the river from Jersey.
During the show you ask the audience to “imagine the sound
echoing” during the show, what was that about?
Well I have a tape delay, an echo thing that I am pretty dependent on
at this point (laugh…) But it broke in the beginning of the set.
Did it have anything to do with that electric outage experienced
before the show?
It might have actually. Something happened with the motor, I heard a popping.
Who was the special guest playing with you?
Ida Pearl, she’s a former full time member of the band. She enjoys
the special status in our band, which is basically whenever she wants
to be in the band, she’s allow to be in the band, and when she doesn’t
want to be, she doesn’t have to be.
So next time you have to announce it like “Ted Leo featuring
Ida Pearl”
Yes, yes yes…
Ida Pearl: Next time right? You promise?
[to ida] Yes. I promise! [laugh]
What about the last encore song? When your fans jumped on the
stage? Is that something you normally do?
I didn’t really want to sing that song, and they were yelling for
it, so I told them, if I play they’d have to sing it.
They did and they new all the words!
