Having missed last summers ERMP shows I made a point of it
to, not only attend most of the shows, but to cover them via
petitemort as well.
Now that ERMP 2004 is over I want to say that I am glad we
did. It was great to see these really dedicated and diverse
musicians over all three days. The best things were seeing
some of these bands in broad daylight (some of which prefer
playing way past your bedtime), the way the shows felt very
intimate then anonymous as the crowds ebbed and swelled around
the stage, Cat Powers karaoke goodbye song in the pit, in
the same pit Aa giving it all under a hot noon-time sun, Ted
Leo's fans' fabulous encoré, -oh and let's not forget
the local music enthusiast who rallied up and down aisles
(see the atmosphere pictures in day 3). With that said - a
big thanks to all the people at ERMP for putting on these
free alternative events, all the bands that hung out after
the shows for our Q&A, and the fans and passers-by who
joined us out there. I'm looking forward to seeing how they
will mix it up next year.
BTW- ERMP is a non-profit organization. Their summer concert
series is funded by grants and donations from guess who? People
like you and I. You can make tax deduct able donations via
Paypal by clickin' the "Make a Donation" button
on their website. Or otherwise sign-up for their newsletter
to receive info about their winter benefit concerts. website
